Conveying System for Tongaat- Hulett Sugar

Tongaat-Hulett Sugar-Refinery has awarded Bateman Engineered Technologies Limited a contract for equipment to transport sugar at its Rossburgh plant, Durban, RSA.

A dense phase conveying system will be used to move 20 t/hr of sugar over a distance of 90 m during processing. This type of system was selected for its ability to handle friable material with minimal degradation or contamination of the product. It is energy efficient and its consumption of air is low.

Experience with this type of system at Tongaat-Hulett Sugar has been good and this installation follows several others installed at the plant during the past few years.

The equipment will be manufactured in Johannesburg and trucked to Durban.

This fast-track project will take 11 weeks, including manufacture and installation. Please contact David Gale, Manager, Pneumatics, at dgale@bmhbrandt.co.za for further details.
