The Hartley Platinum Project

The project involved the provision of facilities to process 2,1M t/yr of ore from the Hartley Platinum Mine and included conveyors from the mine to the plant, the milling and fotation circuits, the smelter, the base metals refinery and the necessary infrastructure. BATEMAN’s involvement in the project was ongoing, starting in 1990 with the preliminary feasibility study and culminating in the execution of the project.

High environmental standards for the plant had to be observed. This is a non-toxic discharge plant with respect to sewage, reticulation and storm-water systems. Dust and gas emissions are strictly controlled with sulphur dioxide monitoring stations in the surrounding areas. Boreholes at the tailings dam have the latest monitoring and testing equipment.
