BATEMAN to market Jetfloat in Africa

BATEMAN has been given exclusive representation rights by Jetfloat International GmbH of Austria to market the Jetfloat system in 36 African countries, that is, virtually the whole of the continent with the exception of the North African countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and the Portuguese speaking countries.

Jetfloat systems are manufactured using plastic that is UV-resistant, recyclable, complies with food regulations and handles temperatures between -60 and 80 °C. The systems therefore have a long life, being fatigue and weather proof and resistant to saltwater, chemicals and
acids.

The floating platforms are modular and consist of elements that are linked together to form the required shapes. No cranes are required to assemble and extend the platforms. Repair and maintenance costs are very low, as the elements have no sharp edges with a high elastic resistance to impact by boats, wind and storms.

According to Paul Davies, BATEMAN Spares and Services Manager, a good demand is expected for these installations. “Business in South Africa is taking off and BATEMAN has already supplied several such systems,” said Davies.

“The first industrial system, on a slimes dam at the Venetia Mine near Musina in the Limpopo Province, comprised a 550 m long walkway, 1.5 m in width, leading to a pump platform housing two pumps. A second was a 35 m walkway with a 3 m x 4 m pump platform supporting two pumps supplied to Fraser Alexander for installation on a slimes dam at the Vanchem Division of the Highveld Steel & Vanadium Corp. in Mpumalanga. An order from Tavistock colliery for a 100 m walkway with a penstock platform for its slimes dam is being processed.

“The first order in the leisure market has also been received,” said Davies. “Three 46 m long jetties to moor 60 boats at the club at Peaconwood Estate on Haartebeespoort Dam were installed in November.

“In October the Jetfloat system was exhibited by BATEMAN at the Fish Africa and Aquaculture Show at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Mr Alois Hinteregger, General Manager of Jetfloat International, also attended. The interest shown in the Jetfloat product was incredible and the recreational demand is expected to be significant,” claimed Davies.
