Wealth of technical know-how showcased on Bateman website

BATEMAN's expansion of modular dense-media separation (DMS) plants into 'mega' DMS modules is one of the many technical papers featured on the recently launched technology component of BATEMAN's website (www.batemanengineering.com).

The new technology section was established as part of BATEMAN's drive to intensify its focus on technology and build on the company's reputation as a technology-focused project house. The new section therefore makes easily accessible a wealth of BATEMAN project profiles, product brochures, commodity brochures and technical papers. In addition, a comprehensive directory of the technologies available through BATEMAN is included.

The paper on 'mega' DMS modules by Robert Abate and Arie Fourie was presented at the DMS Powders Symposium in Cape Town, South Africa from 3-4 March 2005. It outlines the evolution of the modular concept for DMS plants from its inception 30 years ago to the latest 200 t/h modules which are designed on a two-stream basis, allowing 50% of the plant to be run while maintenance is done on the other, non-operational half of the plant.

A copy of the paper may be downloaded from the Bateman website and / or further information on 'mega' DMS modules can be obtained by contacting Robert Abate, General Manager, Modular Plants, on +27-11-899-2238 or email modular@batemanengineering.com.

The website currently has more than 40 papers. Other technical papers recently added include 'Process flow sheet development for the corridor sands project' by L. Rademeyer of BATEMAN, and B. Taylor, et al of WMC Resources International Pty Ltd, which was presented at the Heavy Minerals conference in Johannesburg, South Africa and organised by the SAIMM. 'The use of selective ion exchange for the recovery of base metals from effluent streams' by J. Wyethe and M. Kotze of Mintek, and B. Van Hege and R. Bell of BATEMAN, presented at the Third Southern African Conference on Base Metals, organised by the SAIMM, is also now available.
