The Bafokeng Rasimone platinum concentrator

Bateman Minerals & Industrial Limited (BMI) is engaged on a project for Amplats Management Services (Pty) Ltd to establish a 200 000 tonne/month concentrator at the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine, near Rustenburg, Northern Province, RSA.

The project involves the design and engineering of the milling and flotation plant and associated infrastructure for the concentrator, starting with the raw ore feed from the stockpile and ending with the concentrate to be fed into the transportation system to the Waterval Smelter.

The contract for the project, awarded in December 1998, arose out of a study completed by BATEMAN in August 1998. The cost for the project management, associated engineering and design services to be provided by BMI is estimated at R24M.

The bulk of the project team has been drawn from the team which recently completed the EPCM project for Amplats, at Potgietersrust Platinum Mine, a similar scope of work.
